Rosie
We rescued Rosie about 1 month before we adopted her first companion, Charley, back in 5/2000. She was almost 2.5 years old. It took me about 1 day to win over Rosie, since her previous owner was an abusive lady. But with a lot of sitting on the ground on her level and a few packs of hot dogs, I finely won her trust. Rose was always a loving and vary fun dog. She always seemed to be smiling, even up to the end. The only time she was not, was when we had to put her companion, Charley, to sleep. She went into a deep depression and would not eat or move. So we looked into adopting her a new companion. Who was an Inky Rott Rescue. His name, Ollie. About a year later, we had our first baby, Alicia (2004). Rosie went into what I call “Little Momma” mode. She watched over Alicia all the time. Then just this last year, (2009) we had our 2nd baby, Aaron, and she was the “Little Momma” for him as well as his big sister Alicia. After just over 12 years of age, Rose started having major issues with her already bad hips. She had bad hips since she was born. Eventually she could not hold herself up. So we took her in to our vet’s office, where we helped her along (put her to sleep). We miss her a lot, as dues Ollie. But we all know we will see each other at the Rainbow Bridge later on. We know you are having fun with your old companion, Charley. We love You Rosie! – The Beers Family
Tank
This picture is in memory of our beloved Tank who passed away on 1-7-2010. Tank came into our lives 4 years ago. I was reluctant to keep him, as I didn't know anything about Rotts and had never had such a big dog. He was thin as he had not received the best of care from the woman who owned him. And even though her life was a mess, she had trained him well. He was without a doubt the smartest dog I have ever had. He was our buffoon and loyal companion. He was "Mama Tank" to our cats, as the 4 rascals were not allowed to run crazy through the house or fight. He never hurt them, just nudged them with his big head and barked at them. He and our lab were good friends, even though many a time she took his toys and hid them outside. He thought he was a lap dog and one of his great joys was to sit on my lap when I would sit on the floor. He never met a stranger. He had a wide circle of friends in our local park, who he always greeted. He loved the water as much if not more than the lab. She didn't like getting into our inflatable pool, he did. I will never forget going out to check on him and there he was he had literally splashed all of the water out of an 8 foot pool. The sides were down and I swear he just grinned at me with a look of "Hey, where did all the water go?" Come on mom, fill her back up!! We miss him, but his bad hip just gave out and now he is in the arms of the angels, running with our Hershey who we lost a year ago. And even when he lay in my arms dying, he reared up to snuffle my neck and lick my face and comfort me, as I tried to hold back my tears so he would be able to go in peace. Good bye doggie boy.
Koda
Koda was adopted two years ago. He was one very lucky guy as he landed in heaven on earth. They said it took him about 6 months to warm up to them and then that wonderful, fun and loving personality came out and he was so special to us. Koda didn't meet a person or animal that wasn't his VERY best friend. We started to take him to nursing homes to visit patients and he thoroughly enjoyed his job. The only problem was that he tried to get so close to the patients that he would push their wheelchairs backwards. Of course, the patients would start laughing and that would just make Koda wag his little stub even more. We also took Koda for walks every day (to keep his broken back leg in shape). We recently got him a reflective vest for the nights we walked him in the dark. Koda was so very proud to wear that vest - he would just strut like he was something special (which he was). Koda also became quite a hit at the vet's office - anytime we would take him there, the techs and vets would all come out to get a Koda kiss. We feel very lucky that we were able to share his life for 2 years and we are devastated that it ended so quickly.
Again, we are sorry to give you this bad news. We really wish there was something that could have been done to save him. We feel that God needed something to smile about, so He took Koda.
Thank you for bringing him into our lives.
Peachs
Peach was a kindred soul to me. She was my Peach, my baby. In her last months here she broke her hind leg so severely it had to be amputated. But that didn’t break her spirit, she was back up on 3 legs in a matter of days. I know she is running on 4 legs again and waiting for me on the other side. She was true blessing and is missed everyday
